Details of the SPARC Ambassadors programme:

The Sports Ambassador Programme is a successful and highly valued initiative run by SPARC.  A number of high profile elite athletes are contracted yearly to run workshops and inspire young New Zealanders.  These workshops deal with dreams, motivation, time management, planning and goal setting. The ambassadors draw from their personal experiences to provide an interactive and meaningful workshop to support young people in pursuit of their sporting dreams.

The potential of the programme when used to maximum benefit can help provide valuable linkages for students, schools, Regional Sports Trusts and the community.

Although the Programme changes from time to time the core function and objectives have not changed dramatically, important modifications have been made to ensure the potential of the programme is realized. The following provides the programme background and the new operational process.

SPARC Sport Ambassador Programme Objectives:

  • To give young New Zealanders the opportunity to be involved with and learn from elite New Zealand athletes.

  • To promote the values of sport through elite New Zealand athletes to young New Zealanders.

  • To support young New Zealanders with skills and information that they can apply to reach and exceed their own sporting goals.
